| Well. It's summer. And I'm %150 bored out of my mind. I've been trying to get a job, but no one will hire me for just the summer. So, I hired myself out as a piano teacher. I had lots of people express interest but only one person actually comitted. She wants me to teach her 2 year old daughter. How do you teach piano to a 2 year old???? I guess I'll find out...
Tomorrow I'm actually doing something though! Over the summer my mom runs a camp for visually impared kiddos. One of the employees got in a car accident yesterday so they're a short a person, and she volunteered me to take her place. So, I'm helping out at "blind camp" which is kind of out of my comfort zone. I usually only work with the deaf/hh kids. I hope I can help out!!!
So, I was looking through my pictures of this past year. And I came across the ones of our college pastors office after we "decorated" it for his birthday. The story goes a little something like this. You take the little paper dixie cups, fill them with water, then put them ALL over the floor of someones dorm room/office/hallway. I mean all over. Covering the floor. So, they walk in the next day, and find these cups covering their floor. When you first see them, you can't tell they have water in them. So, they soon find out they're filled with water. Then, they have no choice but to pick them up one by one and empty them out. It's a pretty amazing prank. If you want to be really mean you can staple them all together, so it's just one big sheet of water filled cups. But, we didn't want to be mean, just....mischvious. Hehehe. Once we found out it was Dave's (the college pastor) birthday, we decided this is what we were going to do to him. We had to do some major scheming to get a hold of his office key, but eventually just had one handed to us by our worship leader. Thanks Brian!! Then, my friends Britta, Ginger, and I went to Publix and bought ALL their tiny cups. 2,640 cups to be exact. So that night, after our worship meeting, we had everyone who wanted to particpate in this little birthday shenanigan meet us at Sonic. From there we drove to Dave's office. It took us about 2 hours to get all the cups filled and set out. I must say, when finished, this was one of the most spectacular things I've seen in a long time. We left our little birthday present overnight and waited anxiously to hear about Dave's reaction. We also spooned his yard. Like forking, just with spoons.... Well, Dave never said anything to us, but apparently it took him quite some time to clean up our little gift, and while he was cleaning up, his landlord came by. Don't worry though, some people stopped by later one while he was out and finished cleaning up for him. We didn't make him clean it all up
So it may seem a little cruel, but really. It was all done out of love. And don't deny it. It was a spectacularly executed plan. Take a look at these pictures:

So, I think that's all I have to talk about tonight. I need to get to bed. Blind camp bright and early tomorrow!
| Ok! Fine! Due to much prodding, I'll update!
So, I've been insanely busy. Today is actually the last day of class before finals so i have a music theory review class in about 10 minutes. My voice jury is tomorrow. AHHHH. A voice jury is where you sing in front of all the voice faculty and they grade you. The voice faculty here a notoriously hard. So, we'll see. This jury is especially important for me because I'm trying to move up a level, to performance. So, tomorrow will determine my major. I just want to get it over with.... I also have a concert tomorrow night, right after the jury. We had a 3 hour rehearsal for it last night and have another one tonight. Not excited.... My mom's coming up to hear the concert and help me move a bunch of stuff home! I can't believe it's move out time already. So she'll take most of my stuff and I'll bring the rest of it home next Friday when I'm done with exams. Lets see.... what else has happened since I've updated...umm.... I don't know where I'm living next year. I was going to try to live on campus, because it's so convenient. Especially if I'm in the opera next year and stuff. So I finally got my housing assignment and they put me in a dorm with a roommate, and the dorm requires a meal plan. So, that's not going to happen. I need to find an apartment somewhere in Tallahassee. Unfortunately, I don't have any time.....
Hmmm.... I have no summer plans. I want to get a job, but I don't know where. It's kinda hard to look for a job when I'm 5 hours away.... I'm going to try and teach piano lessons, but to make any kind of money off of that you have to have a lot of students.
It's hard to believe the year is over. A year ago this time, I barely knew I was coming to FSU. It's been great. And now.... theory class is calling. I have to figure out what the heck pivot chord modulations are......
| So you know what one of the best things in the world is? The silence that happens when you're the only person in a room. After sleeping with my roommate in the room for so long, it was SO NICE to have that quiet tonight when she was gone. It's just different. And also, the second best thing in the world is getting Ancient Mythology class canceled. WOOHOO. I registered for that class thinking it would be interesting/fun....well, we all make mistakes. This class is so boring and hard. We had our first test last Friday and I think I knew the answers for 14 out of 50 questions. The rest were just some pretty sketchy guess work. I was really expecting to get a %60 or something but turns out I got a %76. Which isn't good at all and normally I'd be freaking out. But this test was SO HARD. The class average was %63 or something like that. And the professor said he was pleased with the grades. What the heck. But it's canceled today!! Weehee! Which means all I have is Music Theory and then Ballet at 2:35!! Which means I really have to practice today. I haven't practiced since my lesson. Eeek. I got assigned a bunch of new rep so I need to go get the music. Blah... Ginger and I are going to the Philharmonia concert tonight and Number One Stir Fry for dinner. MMmmmmm. This will be recital credit number 3. I feel so behind. Oh well... | | |
| I know what I forgot to post!! I get to do the song "What is This Feeling?" from Wicked in a Broadway show we're doing here at FSU!!! I got the part of Galinda. I AM SO PUMPED!!! And my roommate is singing Elphaba. Which is kind of funny...because we're roommates...they were roommates....yeah... I know Wicked is over done and I feel like it's so expected. But I'm having so much fun doing this song!! I'm practicing the Galinda hair flip as I type this hehe. And as girly as I am, I have to admit this role is turning out to be a challenge! I don't loathe my roommate! I feel so bad singing right into her face " I loathe it all!" But that's part of the fun I guess. This has really made me step out of myself So that's all!! I'm so excited!! *hair flip* | | |
